Save Our Office Clerk
Join us in our mission to ensure our dedicated Office Clerk remains a vital part of our school community. Your support can make a difference!
Oak Hill Elementary is a remarkable school community situated on the largest elementary campus in the Austin Independent School District, with a legacy spanning over 100 years of serving students and families throughout Southwest Austin. We are a beautifully diverse community defined by our school pride, sense of shared responsibility, and desire to support public education right here in our own neighborhood.
Due to budget cuts across the District, we face several difficult staff reductions for the 2026-2027 school year. On top of multiple Administrative leadership positions, Oak Hill Elementary has been informed that BOTH of our Office Clerk positions have been eliminated.
Why We Need Your Help
The Heart of Our School
Our office clerks are the first line of support for our campus: they monitor and greet everyone entering the school, verify identity and direct individuals, submit daily attendance, escort students for late drop-off or early pick-up, answer phones, accept daily deliveries of supplies and forgotten lunch boxes, and perhaps most importantly, they are the frontline for campus security.
If you have a student at OHE, you know you cannot even enter the building without the assistance of one of the clerks. Students and fellow staff rely on them throughout the day, and the special events that bring large groups to our campus simply could not happen without all of the extra tasks they take on. Oak Hill is also in the unique position of having our classrooms spread across two buildings with a long walk for our youngest students from the Main Entrance to their building – too long to walk unescorted.
If there is one thing the Oak Hill Elementary PTA knows for sure during this time of uncertainty, it’s that when our community comes together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish for our students. Knowing this, the PTA has launched a campaign to fundraise for a part-time Office Clerk to assist our campus during its busiest hours. Our administration has identified internal funds of $10,000 to partially support this position. We are now seeking the remaining $14,414.25 from the generosity of our community and beyond.
How You Can Help
A Pillar of Support
Our schools are being asked to do more with even less, which means your support is needed now more than ever. Our PTA supports OHE by funding classroom supplies, field trips and in-school enrichment programs, supporting volunteer mentorship programs in reading and math, maintaining our grounds, providing food for families in most need during breaks from school, and so, so much more. We look for opportunities to make the most impact, and we believe filling this need serves our mission to support each and every student at OHE.
We know that every family’s financial situation is unique and ask that you participate in this effort in whatever way you are able. That might mean donating directly to the campaign or sharing it as widely as possible. Family, friends, neighbors, and businesses – every person and every dollar will help us reach our goal.
Like any financial donation to the OHE PTA, your donation is tax-deductible and possibly eligible for matching by your employer.
To succeed with this endeavor, the school district requires us to have funds in place for the position by August 1. If we do not raise the amount needed to save the position, all funds will go directly into the general fund to support our PTA’s many other efforts that will be even more critical next year. And any dollar above the $14,414.25 goal will do the same!
